"Could Have Played Better...": MS Dhoni's Brutal Judgment After Chennai Super Kings Lost In the IPL 2023 Opener
BADSHAHCRIC : :
Captain MS Dhoni criticized the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsmen's failure to assert themselves in the middle overs after the strong start provided by opener Ruturaj Gaikwad during their five-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 opener in Ahmedabad on Friday night.
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni was not too happy with his team's batting effort after the four-time champions lost their third straight IPL match against Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing 179 to win from 20 overs, GT reached the target in 19.2 overs with five wickets in hand to win the opening game of IPL 2023.
After winning the toss, GT asked CSK to bat first with a beautiful wicket. But not so unfortunate for CSK, except Ruturaj Gaikwad (92 off 50), no one could step up as Chennai concluded with 178 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
It looked set to be 200-plus until the Gujarat bowlers came back to stifle the run-rate and restrict CSK to 178/7, which the defending champions were chasing with four balls to spare and five wickets in hand.

However, Dhoni praised IPL debutant Rajvardhan Hangargekar, who took three wickets.
"I think Raj (Hangargekar) has pace and will improve with time. Think bowlers are improving, the off ball is something you have control over so you have to work on it. I felt they would be a better option, so I went with them. Shivam (Dube) was an option but overall I felt comfortable with the bowlers," Dhoni said.
Titans' captain Hardik Pandya was happy with the team's performance.
"We were put in a difficult position but Rahul and Rashid did very well. We were happy in the mid-innings because at one point it was looking like they were going to get 200+ but we got some wickets to pull things down."
On the arrival of the impact players in the IPL, he said, "Having this Impact rule really makes my job difficult. I have too many options and because of that, someone will bowl less. I realized for this game that bowling hard lengths is the way to go, therefore Alzarri bowled late.
